Empowering farmers of Madhya Pradesh with solar energy. Reduce irrigation costs, earn from barren land, and turn from a consumer into a 'Bijli-Data' (Power Producer).
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) is a transformative initiative by the Government of India. In Madhya Pradesh, it is managed by MPUVNL (MP Urja Vikas Nigam Limited) with the goal of providing reliable daytime power for irrigation and extra income for farmers.
The scheme has been extended until March 2026 with an allocation of ₹3,000 crore to accelerate solar adoption in MP's farm sector.
Set up small solar plants (500 kW to 2 MW) on barren or fallow land. Sell power to DISCOMs or lease land for ₹60k–1L per acre/year.
Get standalone solar pumps (up to 7.5 HP) for off-grid areas. Highly subsidized for individual farmers.
Solarize existing grid-connected pumps. Use solar power for irrigation and sell surplus back to the grid.
Large scale solarization of agricultural feeders to provide 24/7 free solar power to entire farming clusters.
Madhya Pradesh offers some of the highest subsidies for solar pumps, particularly under the PM Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana.
*Approximate values. Certain categories receive up to 90% total subsidy.
Individual farmers, cooperatives, Panchayats, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) can apply.
